Foundation for Allergy Information and Research

Ignorance of food or environmental allergies and intolerances is often the cause of unnecessary suffering for otherwise healthy individuals. It also represents a serious annual burden on the NHS as outlined in a report from the Royal College of Physicians.

Most people are able to manage their own health but when symptoms of poor health persist it is natural to seek medical advice. Where a diagnosis is not made it is often the case that a food allergy or intolerance is rarely considered, despite their being considerable evidence they play a crucial part in many chronic conditions.

FAIR believes it is essential that food or environmental allergies and intolerances are positioned in the forefront of scientific research and investigation, and it is to this that we are committed. FAIR is currently funding two major research projects at King's College London and The University of Surrey as well as the FAIR database, which to date holds approximately 100,000 references to research papers, reviews, conference proceedings, books, monologues and reports.
