FAIR Database
In 1995, a group of UK doctors specialising in nutritional and
environmental medicine, and allergy, were frustrated there was no
single source of scientific references to this important medical field.
It was impossible to conduct a single search for research demonstrating
the benefits, and pitfalls, of this approach, and it was thus very
difficult to evaluate the use of these methods to sceptical colleagues.
Without a clear picture of research conducted so far, it was also
impossible to decide the direction of future research, avoiding
duplication and building on established facts.
In addition to research papers, there were many other sources of
valuable material that were in danger of being lost if not catalogued,
and so the FAIR database evolved.
Evidence based medicine is now an essential feature of medical advances
and the adoption of new principles within the NHS. This database is a
tool for those who need the hard facts to justify a non-pharmaceutical
approach to improving health in the chronically ill, and disease
prevention for the general population.
The database includes research papers, reviews, conference proceedings,
books, monologues and reports, and literature citings from many
personal databases that have been kindly donated. It is probably the
largest such database of its type in existence.
The database continues to grow as new research is added and old work continues to be brought to our attention and now has approximately 100,000 entries
